We are delighted to announce that The Welcome Fun Day, held on Sunday, June 23rd at Toft Cricket Club, was a resounding success! Blessed with glorious sunshine, the event brought together families and community members for a day filled with joy, entertainment, and camaraderie.
Over 360 guests joined us, filling the air with laughter and the vibrant spirit of togetherness. The event not only raised over £5,000 to support our vital work but also significantly increased awareness of The Welcome and our services within the Knutsford community.
The atmosphere was electric with a variety of activities and entertainment. Guests were treated to live music by the local band, The Sapphires, while Jonathan Hills from the Knutsford Beats Choir hosted a lively karaoke event. Dance performances by SMB Dance captivated the audience, adding an extra layer of excitement to the day.
Children and adults alike enjoyed an array of fun activities including giant Connect4, Frisbee Golf, giant Jenga, cricket nets, Beat the Goalie, a trampoline, and a bouncy castle. The stalls set up on the day offered everything from delicious food to an array of toys, with a teddy tombola adding to the fun. Peter Murray from Pulse of Perfumery delighted guests with special products at fun day prices, allowing everyone to leave with something unique.
Our theme for the fun day, “Together We Can,” truly came to life, showcasing the incredible community spirit and support. The generosity of the Toft Cricket Club, including Chairman Nigel Muirhead, President Peter Watson, and Chairman of the Toft Taverners Club, Paul Raffo, was instrumental in making the day a success. We are also grateful to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and community police officers for their attendance, and to Woods Butchers for providing award-winning burgers and hot dogs.
A special thanks to our volunteers from the Toft Taverners and all the guests who participated and contributed to the event’s success. Your support ensures that The Welcome can continue to provide essential services to our community.
During the fun day, we also launched our Welcome100Club initiative, aiming to find 100 local private donors who can contribute £10 per month. This support is crucial for us to maintain and expand our services. We are grateful to the nine new supporters who pledged their support at the event.
